On the occasion of visiting the United States this week, PM Modi will also, as per the sources, meet top US CEO including Apple chief Tim Cook. There are also speculations about the meeting of PM Modi with US Vice President Kamala Harris, an Indian origin woman who rose to such rank in the US for the first time.

However, the officials did not confirm the details about the upcoming meetings.

PM will be arriving in Washington DC on September 22 where he will also meet Australian Prime Minister Scot Morrison and Japanese counterpart Yoshihide Suga on the same day.

On September 24, PM Modi will participate in the first in-person Quad leaders’ summit in Washington. It will be the first physical bilateral meeting with world leaders since the outbreak of coronavirus. On the same day in the evening, he will be proceeding to New York to deliver a speech at United Nations General Assembly on the next day.

Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi last week said, “PM will participate in first in-person Quad leaders’ summit in Washington on September 24…while PM is in Washington, he will have bilateral with President Biden, and other Quad leaders”.

The theme for this year’s general debate is Building Resilience through hope to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people and revitalise the United Nations. Dinner is also organised during PM Modi’s visit. Since the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit coincides with PM Modi’s visit to Washington, therefore a meeting between them is also expected.

This visit will be added to high-level meetings that PM Modi has undertaken in the US that is, in September 2014, September 2015, 2016, June 2017 and September 2019.
