Bhupendra Patel, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Gujarat’s Ghatlodia, will take oath as Chief Minister of the state for the second consecutive term on Monday, following the party’s massive victory in the recently concluded assembly elections. The ceremony will be held at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar, the state capital.

The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, as well as at least 20 chief ministers from BJP-ruled states.

At a ceremony inside Gandhinagar’s new secretariat complex, Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer Patel’s oath as Gujarat’s 18th chief minister. At the event, the new ministerial council will also be sworn in. JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, and 10-15 government ministers are expected to attend the event.

According to information, MLAs whose names have been finalised for ministerial positions were notified last night. Through phone calls, BJP state president CR Patil informed the concerned MLAs. As a result, 17 newly elected assembly members have been asked to take the oath of office as ministers in the new cabinet.

200 Seers Invited For The Ceremony

According to reports by ABP News, special preparations have been made for this swearing-in ceremony, as 200 seers have been invited to attend. The helipad ground in Gandhinagar will be divided into three large stages. The Chief Minister and his cabinet will be in charge of the middle stage. The Prime Minister and VVIPs will take the platform on the right side of the main stage. On the left side stage, 200 sadhus from the state who have been specially invited to the ceremony will be seated.

In the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly elections, the party won 156 of the total 182 seats, giving it an unprecedented lead and its eighth consecutive victory. The main opposition party, the Congress, could win 17 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could win five seats in the state legislature.

A committee of IAS officials is overseeing the preparations for the swearing-in ceremony, for which a temporary structure with a capacity of 20,000 people has been constructed at the helipad field.

The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by party officials from the taluka and city levels. The party’s current and former MPs and MLAs, office-bearers of various morchas, chairmen/vice-chairmen and directors of APMCs, gramme panchayat sarpanches, and Jan Sangh veterans are also expected to attend. During the party’s election campaign in Gujarat, several national-level figures were brought in for campaign carpet bombing.
