Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Monday morning after concluding his five-nation visit, even as strong earthquake tremors were felt across the city minutes before his arrival.
The Prime Minister wrapped up his diplomatic tour that included stops in Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia, where he engaged in high-level meetings aimed at strengthening India’s bilateral and multilateral ties. During his visit to Brazil, he also participated in the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, calling for stronger multilateralism, responsible AI governance, and deeper South-South cooperation.
Just as his plane was landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, residents of Delhi-NCR experienced noticeable earthquake tremors around 9:04 AM, sending people outdoors in panic. Preliminary reports from the National Centre for Seismology indicated a magnitude of around 4.1 with an epicentre near Gurawara, Haryana.
PM Modi was received at the airport by senior ministers and officials. There has been no official comment yet from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the tremors.
Both events underscored a dramatic Monday morning in the national capital, with the city witnessing a mix of diplomatic homecoming and natural unease.
