Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the Odisha government’s women-centric Subhadra Yojana, along with key railway and national highway projects, during his visit to the state today. The visit marks his first to Odisha since attending the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in June.
PM Modi is expected to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport around 10:50 am, according to officials. In a tweet posted earlier this morning, he stated, “Leaving for Bhubaneswar. It is very special to be among the wonderful people of Odisha to launch SUBHADRA, an important scheme of the Odisha Government. This scheme will boost women empowerment and ensure financial independence for our Nari Shakti.”

The Subhadra Yojana, named after Goddess Subhadra, aims to empower eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 by providing financial assistance of ₹50,000 over five years (2024-2029). Under this scheme, ₹10,000 per year will be credited in two installments directly to their bank accounts, benefiting over 1 crore women across the state. Today, PM Modi will initiate the first transfer of funds to the bank accounts of over 10 lakh women.
In addition to launching Subhadra Yojana, PM Modi will also lay the foundation for railway projects worth ₹2,800 crore and national highway projects valued at over ₹1,000 crore. He will dedicate several of these projects to the nation during the event.
The Prime Minister will also distribute the first installment of assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries across 14 states. In a ceremony that will include Griha Pravesh (housewarming) celebrations, PM Modi will hand over keys to 26 lakh beneficiaries of the PMAY (Gramin and Urban) from across India.
Additionally, PM Modi will launch the Awaas 2024 App, designed to survey additional households for PMAY-G, and will introduce the operational guidelines for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 before returning to the national capital.
The series of initiatives today, focused on empowering women and bolstering infrastructure, align with PM Modi’s vision of creating a developed and self-reliant India.
