In a significant escalation following Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces on Thursday morning successfully neutralised a key Pakistani Air Defence system in Lahore, according to defence ministry sources. This targeted strike was part of India’s proportionate response to Pakistan’s drone and missile attempts aimed at several Indian military bases across the northern and western regions.

According to the Ministry of Defence, “Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an air defence system at Lahore has been neutralised.”

The targeted Pakistani air defence infrastructure was reportedly part of a broader retaliatory move by India, aimed at disabling Pakistan’s capacity to escalate hostilities. Notably, Redbox, a reputed international defence tracker, shared that the US State Department has received initial reports suggesting that authorities may be evacuating areas adjacent to Lahore’s main airport.

Meanwhile, the Line of Control (LoC) continues to witness intense mortar and artillery shelling from Pakistan in regions including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri, resulting in the death of 16 civilians, including three women and five children, the Ministry of Defence confirmed.

In response, India also engaged in counter-artillery fire to halt the unprovoked Pakistani aggression, maintaining its stated non-escalatory posture unless provoked further.

The developments mark one of the most serious confrontations in the region in recent years, with the Indian Armed Forces reiterating their readiness to respond firmly while remaining committed to restraint.
