In a major development under India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor, ANI has reported that Pakistan’s air defence units equipped with HQ-9 missile systems have suffered heavy damage. These Chinese-origin long-range surface-to-air missile systems were considered a key part of Pakistan’s layered defence network.

According to ANI sources, India’s precision strikes have damaged multiple HQ-9 launchers and associated radar systems, compromising Pakistan’s aerial defence capabilities in key forward locations.

In another news, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that Operation Sindoor is still underway, and that over 100 terrorists have been neutralized so far, although the final count remains “difficult to ascertain” due to ongoing operations.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 civilian lives. India has so far targeted nine major terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

The government has maintained a non-escalatory stance, asserting that only terror-linked infrastructure was hit, with no damage to civilian or military installations in Pakistan.

Further updates are awaited as the operation progresses.
