n a major terror strike that has rocked Jammu and Kashmir, at least 26 people are feared dead following a targeted attack on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran valley. The attack occurred around 2:30 PM on Tuesday, when armed militants opened fire on a group of tourists at the popular highland meadow.

According to reports, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has rushed to Srinagar and is expected to hold a high-level security review. He was received at the airport by J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, along with other top officials.

Sources say the Home Minister is likely to visit the attack site to assess the situation firsthand. The incident, considered one of the worst attacks on civilians in the Valley in recent years, has prompted widespread shock and condemnation.

Officials have confirmed that Shah was immediately briefed upon arrival, and security agencies have been put on the highest alert across the Union Territory.

The Baisaran meadow, a scenic tourist destination accessible only by foot or horseback, turned into a scene of horror as tourists were caught off guard by the ambush. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched an intensive search operation to neutralize the perpetrators.
