In a major media briefing held jointly by the Director Generals of Military Operations from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, top officials outlined the key objectives and achievements of Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam carnage of April 22, 2025, which left 26 civilians—including one Nepalese national—dead.
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai stated that the operation was “conceptualised and executed to punish the terrorists and destroy their infrastructure”. Visuals shared during the briefing showed the brutal aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, underlining the need for swift and strategic military retaliation.
The Armed Forces confirmed that the strikes were meticulously planned and executed across multiple Pakistani military targets. As revealed earlier, the Indian Air Force used precision-guided munitions, including BrahMos and SCALP missiles, to neutralise key airbases and radar stations inside Pakistan, such as Rafiqui, Murid, Jacobabad, Sargodha, and Nur Khan.
Refuting claims of random retaliation, officials clarified that the operation was targeted and aligned with national objectives. According to Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, the campaign was not merely retaliatory but was part of a calibrated strategy to disrupt Pakistan’s deep state-backed terror infrastructure.
DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai says “You are all by now familiar with the brutality and the dastardly manner in which 26 innocent lives were prematurely terminated at Pahalgam on 22nd April. When you combine those horrific scenes and the pain of the families that the nation witnessed with numerous other recent terrorist strikes on our armed forces and defenceless civilians, we knew that the time had arrived to make yet another compelling statement of our resolve as a nation. Operation Sindoor was conceptualized with a clear military aim to punish the perpetrators and planners of terror and to destroy their terror infrastructure. What I do not state here is the often stated determination of India and its intolerance to terror.”
