Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav are en route to Delhi today to participate in pivotal discussions. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition INDIA bloc are strategizing their next steps following the formation of a new government at the Centre post the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Both leaders boarded the Patna-Delhi Vistara flight UK-718, scheduled to land in the national capital at 10:40 am.

As per the final results declared by the Election Commission of India on Wednesday, the BJP secured 240 seats, falling short of the majority mark of 272, while the Congress clinched 99 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to establish a government at the Centre for a third consecutive term, despite the NDA’s underperformance compared to expectations. The unexpected strength displayed by the INDIA bloc and significant losses in key states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have reshaped the political landscape.

The outcome of the 2024 elections starkly contrasts with the BJP-led NDA’s victories in 2019 and 2014, where they secured 303 and 282 seats respectively, granting them a majority on their own.
