In a significant breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested Kashmir Singh Galwaddi, a key Khalistani operative and fugitive, from Motihari, Bihar. Singh was closely associated with Harwinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, a foreign-based designated terrorist of the Babbar Khalsa International.
According to ANI reports, the arrest was made in coordination with Motihari Police as part of an ongoing investigation in a Khalistani terror conspiracy case. The NIA said Kashmir Singh had been evading arrest since the high-profile Nabha jail break in 2016, where several dangerous criminals and terrorists managed to escape.
Post-escape, Singh remained actively involved in terror networks, and continued coordination with foreign-based terror handlers including Rinda. The NIA stated that Singh had been playing a critical role in the revival of Khalistani terror operations, particularly in Punjab and other parts of northern India.
Singh’s capture is seen as a major blow to transnational terror linkages operating from Pakistan and other foreign safe havens, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further networks connected to the arrested operative.
