In a significant development, the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a state-of-the-art Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal.
Key Highlights of the Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP)
- Strategic Location: The 150-acre park is well-connected to NH7 via a 650-meter access road and is just 1.5 km from the NH7-NH2 junction.
- Rail and Waterway Connectivity: The project will seamlessly integrate with the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor through a 5.1 km railway line from Jeonathpur Station and National Waterway-1, ensuring efficient cargo movement.
- Proximity to Airport: The facility is located just 30 km from Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport, enhancing its accessibility for logistics operations.
- Economic Boost: The project is expected to bring significant investments and employment opportunities, further strengthening India’s logistics sector.
- Enhancing Trade Efficiency: The MMLP is designed to streamline cargo movement, reduce logistics costs, and improve trade efficiency, reinforcing India’s position as a key global trade hub.
