The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for various regions in Maharashtra, forecasting heavy rainfall. A red alert has been issued for isolated areas in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra on July 25, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Mumbai is on a yellow alert, warning of potential heavy rains.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Mumbai also issued an orange alert for several districts, including Thane, Palghar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. According to the IMD, these regions are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain, particularly in isolated places.

In addition to these alerts, the RMC noted that northern Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada districts might see heavy rainfall at isolated places. The Vidarbha region is likely to experience thundershowers, gusty winds, and heavy rain in specific areas.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has reported that Tansa Lake, one of Mumbai’s primary water sources, began overflowing at around 4:16 PM today. Three gates of the Tansa Dam have been opened, releasing water at a rate of 3,315 cusecs. The lake has a full storage capacity of 14,508 crore liters, underscoring the significant water inflow due to the recent rains.
