In a major breakthrough in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi, wife of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi, has surrendered to the police in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of her husband. Sonam had reportedly gone missing after Raja’s body was found in a deep gorge beneath the Weisawdong Falls parking lot in East Khasi Hills on June 2.

After days of search and multi-state coordination, Sonam was traced to Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh. She surrendered at the Nandganj police station late Sunday night and is now in the safe custody of the Uttar Pradesh Police. Formal procedures for her transit and interrogation are currently underway.

The Meghalaya Police, in an official press release, confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the case—two from Indore and one from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh. These arrests, alongside Sonam’s surrender, are being seen as a significant breakthrough in unraveling the circumstances behind the tragic death.

The investigation was led by the Meghalaya Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), with assistance from SDRF, NDRF, and local police forces across multiple states.

Further details are awaited as legal proceedings progress. The Meghalaya Police have urged the public and media to allow due process and refrain from speculation.
