The exercise for the post of Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi started once again on Monday. As soon as the meeting of the House begins, the presiding officer Satya Sharma has announced that the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and members of the standing committee will be held simultaneously and the nominated members will also take part in the voting. The Aam Aadmi Party started an uproar after the nominations were announced to participate in the voting.

The House was adjourned for ten minutes due to sloganeering by BJP and AAP members. Uproar started even after the proceedings of the House resumed, due to which the proceedings of the House were adjourned.

It is notable that in the elections held in the 250 wards of the corporation, the Aam Aadmi Party had defeated the BJP, which had been in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for 15 years, and won 134 wards, while the BJP had won 104 wards. This time 9 councilors of Congress have won while three have won as independents.

Earlier on January 6, there was a lot of uproar in the swearing-in ceremony of the corporators of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi before the election of the Mayor, due to which the proceedings of the House were adjourned. The House met for the second time on January 24, in which the councilors took oath, but the election of the mayor was marred by an uproar.
