A massive fire broke out in Dharavi, Mumbai’s largest slum, in the wee morning of Wednesday, February 22, 2023, but no one was injured, according to officials.
The fire broke out about 4.22 a.m. in some shanties in the Kamala Nagar and Shahu Nagar areas near the Dharavi fire station.
At least 12 fire tenders, eight water tankers and other fire brigade vehicles are engaged in the firefighting operation that is currently underway.
The fire has been contained to some huts, but no one has been injured, he added.
The official stated that personnel from the Mumbai Police, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) administrative ward, and other agencies are on the scene, and that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
