Following up on the reply to the Motion of Thanks addressed by the President in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi replied to the same in the Upper House on February 9, 2023.
The PM continued to reiterate the several developments that the country has made in the past decade from benefits to farmers to Ayushman cards to women for healthcare cost reductions. He also congratulated the nation on switching to a mobile exporter from an importer and applauded the nation’s scientists for providing vaccines globally against the deadly pandemic.
He continued his speech by taking a dig at the opposition whom he accused of discrediting the country’s scientists for their efforts however, throughout his speech, the Opposition continued their chants of Modi ji jawab do, and Dramebaazi band karo, Adani ki Gulami band karo, and Modi Adani Bhai Bhai.
Earlier, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had asked PM Modi, to provide his stance on Adani’s fall in stocks and an investigation into the matter however, no comments have been made by the Government so far. Instead, the PM took a jibe at the Opposition’s sloganeering by saying, “the more ‘keechad’ (sludge) you will throw at us, the lotus will bloom even more…” He further took a jibe at the opposition with a Hindi Shayari, “Keechad uske pas hai, mere pas gulal…jo bhi jiske pas tha usne diya uchaal”.
PM Modi concluded his speech by thanking the President for the Motion of Thanks in a joint session of the Parliament.
