Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep grief over the tragic death of Ajit Pawar, who passed away in a plane crash, calling it a personal and irreparable loss.
In an emotional statement, Fadnavis said the news of Ajit Pawar’s death was “heartbreaking” and described it as a shock that left him numb. Referring to Pawar as “Dada,” he said he had lost a strong, generous friend and a colleague with a deep connection to the people and the land of Maharashtra. “This is a loss that can never be compensated,” the Chief Minister said, adding that it was an extremely difficult day for the state.

Dada has left us! Four other people also died in this accident. We share the grief of their families as well. I have canceled all my programs. I am leaving for Baramati shortly.
Paying heartfelt tribute, Fadnavis said Maharashtra had lost a mass leader who shared an inseparable bond with the people. He also extended condolences to the Pawar family and the Nationalist Congress Party family, stating that the grief was shared by the entire state.
The Chief Minister further noted that four other people also lost their lives in the same accident, and expressed solidarity with their families as well.
Following the tragedy, Fadnavis announced that he had cancelled all his scheduled programmes for the day and would be leaving for Baramati shortly to stand with the bereaved family during this moment of profound sorrow.
