The Winter Session of Parliament witnessed intense disruptions on its opening day as the Opposition created uproar inside the Lok Sabha, rushing to the well of the House and shouting slogans aimed at halting proceedings. The massive ruckus centred around the SIR issue, with Opposition MPs accusing the government of preventing them from raising constituency-level concerns.

Scenes from the House showed members shouting, hooting and gathering in the well, forcing Speaker Om Birla to repeatedly call for order. Despite attempts to continue the scheduled business, the disruptions only grew louder, leaving the House unable to proceed.

Opposition benches alleged that they were not being allowed to speak on critical matters affecting their regions and accused the government of sidelining their voices during the Winter Session. The coordinated protests echoed earlier demonstrations witnessed at the start of the session, intensifying the confrontation between the treasury and Opposition parties.

As the ruckus escalated, the Speaker adjourned the Lok Sabha at 12 pm, marking a turbulent start to the session. With tensions already high on Day 1, more clashes are expected in the coming days as both sides prepare for heated debates and legislative battles.
