Punjab: Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee’s “Rail Roko” agitation in Amritsar against farm laws enters the 14th day, the farmers of Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the three “Farm Laws”. Continuing protests against the recently enacted farm laws, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KSMC) has again extended the “Rail Roko” agitation in Punjab till October 8. Earlier, the protests were scheduled to end on October 5. The members of the Committee held a candlelight vigil as they continue the “Rail Roko” agitation in Amritsar’s Devidaspura village, in protest against the farm laws.
The government of India has passed the 3 Farms Bills from both the houses Loksabha as well as from Rajyasabha. After the signature of the president of India Mahamahim Ramnath Kovind, these bills can be implemented as acts.
Many Farmer organizations have alleged that these laws will end the MSP, and the farmers will have to work under corporates. Thus they are opposing the laws. The “Rail Roko” agitation is a protest by farmers of Punjab against these laws. Many opposition parties have supported farmers, Akali Dal has resigned from NDA opposing these laws. The government of Punjab has decided to pass an ordinance against these laws in the state assembly of Punjab. The Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has led the Farmer’s protest in Punjab. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi organized a tractor rally from Punjab to Haryana to support the protest.
