The resignation comes a day after he moved to Kerala High Court seeking a stay on the Lokayukta order.

On Friday, A division bench of the Lok Ayukta had submitted the report against Jaleel to the Chief Minister and had added that the minister should not continue in the post.

The bench said that allegation of abuse of power, favouritism and nepotism against the minister was proved.

The findings by the Lokayukta Justice Cyriac Joseph and Upa Lokayukta Harul Ul Rashid are based on a complaint against the Minister, which accused him of misusing his office to appoint his relative KT Adeeb as general manager in the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation Limited.

In November 2018, A complaint was filed by a Muslim Youth League leader alleging that KT  Adeeb, a cousin of Jaleel, was appointed as general manager in the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation, flouting rules.

Adeeb was the manager of a private bank when the appointment was made.
