The newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice president AP Abdullakutty of Kerala has claimed that he was attacked twice over a conspiracy to kill him. He said the attack happened on Thursday night, while he was on his way to his home town in Kannur. Today, the Kerala unit of the BJP will hold a strong protest across the state to condemn incidents.
At Malappuram, when he got down to have tea, two people misbehaved with him and after that an another alleged attack took place. He claims “a lorry had hit my vehicle two times”. Post the incident Abdullakutty had demanded a police probe.
On Friday, the police registered two cases at two different police stations for the two alleged attacks. The police has said that it will investigate. The case registered at Ponnai police state says, a group of men mocked him and insulted him. Another at Kadampuza police station says, some people pelted stones on his car and later a lorry hit his car two times.
State BJP president K.Surendran while condemning the attack said, “this is a concerted attempt to destroy the peace. The police should take strong steps to probe on why this incident took place and we strongly condemn this act of intolerance”.
Last year, the former CPI-M Lok Sabha member and Congress legislator Abdullakutty joined BJP and was recently appointed national vice president.
