The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru Police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 after the recent drug bust in the state. Vikas Kumar, Mangaluru Police Commissioner, said that Kannada actor Kishore Shetty has been arrested in relation to the case, for possessing and transporting drugs.
“We will find out all the possible ends in this drug network.One of the arrested is actor Kishore Shetty. The drugs were sourced from Mumbai. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act,” he said in a press conference.
Bengaluru police had cracked down on an illegal drug market recently involving students and film actors. Several raids have been conducted and drugs worth ₹ 1.5 crore was seized. Among the substances seized were ganja (cannabis, 48 kg), ganja oil (500 litres), LSD strips (1,100) and MDMA, or Ecstasy (980 tablets). The police also recovered 450 grams of MDMA crystals and 25 grams of brown sugar. Officials said that the drugs are being sourced from Mumbai.
Further investigation is underway.
