As cross-border tensions escalate following India’s Operation Sindoor, Jodhpur in Rajasthan has been placed on red alert, with air raid sirens blaring across the city on the morning of May 9, 2025. District Collector Gaurav Agarwal, speaking to ANI, confirmed the situation and issued a public advisory.

“In view of the situation between India and Pakistan, we received red alert guidelines this morning, due to which air raid sirens were sounded. I appeal to all the people to stay in their safe places, avoid going to any crowded place and stay safe in your homes,” said Collector Agarwal.

This alert follows heightened activity along the western border, with Pakistani drones and missiles reportedly targeting areas in Jaisalmer, Barmer, and other regions in Rajasthan. Indian Air Defence systems have been actively countering these threats.

Heightened security across Rajasthan

Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 civilian lives, India’s military has launched retaliatory precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, Pakistan has launched retaliatory fire, leading to artillery exchanges and air defence operations in Indian border states.

The Rajasthan government has stepped up border surveillance, deployed anti-drone technology, and implemented evacuation protocols for villages near the Line of Control. Borders with Pakistan have been sealed, and civilians are being asked to remain indoors and vigilant.

As the situation evolves, authorities continue to urge citizens not to panic and to follow only official updates. India’s priority remains safeguarding national security while minimizing civilian disruption.
