Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated several development projects in Asthal village of Kulgam district under ‘Back To Village’ (B2V) program.

On 2nd October, Jammu and Kashmir government decided to mark “Mahatma Gandhi’s” 151st birth anniversary with “Back To Village 3” program. The program aims at “reinvigorating” village Panchayats and helping them with development in the rural areas of the state via the use of local participation, Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Manoj Sinha said.

He dedicated Ashthal Bridge worth Rs 9.55 crore to the public. It connects village Ashthal with adjoining areas while benefitting about 10,000 souls residing in 13 habitations.

“No wrongs should be done to anyone including security personnel. I feel sad, in last 2 months many security personnel passed away but no political stalwart said anything about it. I appeal the youth to join the mainstream, there will be no lack of opportunities” Lt Governor Sinha said.

“Villages are the lifeline of India and their development is the top priority of the Government. Connectivity plays an imperative role in the socio-economic development of any region, area, or locality and the UT Government is taking various initiatives aiming at accentuating the overall road connectivity, with special focus on rural connectivity,” the Lt Governor said.

The local inhabitants expressed gratitude to the government it fulfilled their long-pending demand for the bridge which will provide better connectivity to the village.

He also laid the foundation stone for a Solid Waste Management plant which is claimed to benefit 239 households. For hygienic conditions, at least two dustbins in every panchayat will be installed.
