Today, Jharkhand High Court has granted bail to the former Chief Minister of Bihar and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Chaibasa Treasury Case related to the Fodder Scam.

Although, Yadav is to remain in jail as the Dumka Treasury Case (related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.5 crore) remains unsettled.

The Chaibasa Treasury Fodder Scam case is related with the swindle withdrawal of Rs 33.67 crore from the Chaibasa treasury during the year 1992-93 when Yadav was the serving CM of the state of Bihar.

Lalu has been given bail of Rs 50,000 and fined with Rs 2 lakh by the court. The RJD Chief had completed his half term of his 30 months sentence in the Chaibasa Treasury case. He was convicted for seven years in two different sections for fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore.

Yadav had already gotten bail in the Deoghar Treasury case for the deceptive withdrawal of Rs 79 lakh for which he was convicted and sentenced to 3.5 years.

Lalu Prasad was convicted in the first fodder scam case in 2013 and in the fourth one in 2018.
