Rauf Asghar is infamously known for his role in multiple high-profile terrorist attacks in India, including:
-
The IC-814 hijacking in 1999
-
The 2001 Indian Parliament attack
-
The Pathankot airbase terror attack in 2016
His funeral reportedly took place yesterday in Bahawalpur, with senior officials from the Pakistan Army and ISI in attendance, according to sources.
In the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan-based reports had confirmed that 10 close relatives of Masood Azhar had perished in the precision strike on his Bahawalpur residence. A total of 14 individuals were reportedly killed in the strike, and local sources stated that their funeral was scheduled for 4 PM on May 8.
The Indian Armed Forces executed a targeted operation against key terror infrastructure belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen across Pakistan and PoJK. These strikes were in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
This marks one of the most significant eliminations of top-tier terrorist leadership in recent years.
