Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he had spoken with US President Donald Trump and welcomed the reduction in tariffs on Made in India products to 18%.
In a post shared on social media, Prime Minister Modi said he was delighted that Made in India products will now have a reduced tariff of 18% following his conversation with President Trump. He thanked the US President on behalf of the 1.4 billion people of India for what he described as a significant announcement.
The Prime Minister said cooperation between the world’s two largest democracies and major economies delivers benefits for their people and opens up opportunities for mutually beneficial engagement.
Modi also said President Trump’s leadership is vital for global peace, stability and prosperity, adding that India fully supports his efforts for peace. He said he looks forward to working closely with the US President to take the India–US partnership to unprecedented heights.
