Tensions escalated along the Line of Control as Pakistan Army resorted to artillery shelling targeting Indian civilian areas, prompting a strong operational posture from the Indian side. This comes in the immediate aftermath of Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to defence officials, the Indian Army is closely monitoring the ceasefire violations. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is in constant communication with local formations and has granted operational freedom to frontline units to deliver an appropriate and measured response to Pakistani aggression.

The Pakistani Army’s artillery shelling began following India’s targeted assault on terror infrastructure using precision-guided special munitions in a coordinated tri-services operation conducted overnight. The Indian response was aimed at neutralizing terror launchpads that had been actively involved in planning attacks on Indian soil.

Tragically, one Indian Army jawan has been martyred in the ceasefire violation in the Poonch sector. He had sustained injuries earlier today and later succumbed to them.

Defence officials have confirmed that India’s military is maintaining a high level of preparedness and is committed to protecting civilians and national security interests across the region.
