India slams North Korea for launching ballistic missile, calls for dialogue

An intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was recently launched by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

India slammed North Korea for missile launch in Korean peninsula at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) & had called for a dialogue on the issue, reported ANI.

An intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) was recently launched by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). India’s ambassador to the UN, TS Tirumurti said “India deplores the launch of an ICBM by the DPRK. This is a violation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council relating to the DPRK. It affects the peace and security of the region and beyond.”

This has been the first intercontinental ballistic missile test in four years by North Korea. The missile had felled near Japan’s western coast. The US, Japan & South Korea have condemned this action of North Korea.

India’s ambassador said that this launch is a violation of the UN’s resolution. “These linkages hurt peace and security in the region, including on India. Support dialogue to resolve the issues in the Korean Peninsula,” Tirumurti further added. India has been consistently helping DPRK with humanitarian aid. Till now $1 million of help has been sent to DPRK in the form of anti-tuberculosis medicines.
