The Ministry of Coal has reported a 32.53% year-on-year (YoY) increase in coal production from captive and commercial mines for the financial year 2024-25, reaching 167.36 million tonnes (MT) as of February 2025. This is a significant rise compared to 126.28 MT produced by February 28, 2024.
Coal Dispatch and Production Growth
Coal dispatch has also witnessed a strong 32.86% YoY growth, reaching 170.66 MT, compared to 128.45 MT in the previous year. This increase ensures a stable and uninterrupted supply to key industries, including power, steel, and cement.
Additionally, Bhaskarpara Coal Mine, operated by M/s Prakash Industries Limited, commenced production on February 15, 2025, with a Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) of 15 MT.

The Ministry of Coal remains committed to sustainable and efficient coal sector development, aligning with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, which aims to establish India as a developed nation by 2047.
