In a pre-dawn escalation of hostilities, the Indian Army’s Air Defence (AAD) units successfully neutralised multiple Pakistani kamikaze drones launched across the International Border targeting Amritsar, Punjab. The incident occurred at around 5:00 AM on Saturday and marked yet another attempt by Pakistan to target densely populated civilian areas using Byker YIHA III drones.
According to defence sources, the hostile drones were detected, tracked and intercepted within seconds of breaching Indian airspace. Quick-reaction air-defence guns, already positioned along the sensitive border areas, were activated immediately. The drones—carrying high-explosive payloads—were brought down in mid-air, preventing any casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure.

Initial forensic analysis confirms that these kamikaze drones were designed to inflict maximum civilian harm, a move Indian officials have condemned as a new low in Pakistan’s escalation tactics.
This incident highlights the operational efficiency of India’s layered air defence grid, integrating ground-based radar systems, electro-optical sensors, and automated command-and-control structures for real-time response to aerial threats.
The Ministry of Defence also confirmed that similar drone sightings and attempted incursions were reported at 26 locations across the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC)—including in Jammu, Baramulla, Srinagar, Pathankot, and Bhuj. In Ferozpur, one Pakistani drone managed to breach the airspace and injured a local family after debris from the downed UAV fell onto a residential structure. The area was swiftly sanitised by security forces.
Authorities have reiterated calls for residents in border areas to remain indoors and avoid sharing unverified information. India continues to maintain a high alert status along the western frontier amid continued provocations from across the border.
