India may be renamed as Bharat: Report

The government is likely to move a bill for changing India’s official name to ‘Bharat’.

India, officially known as the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world.

Recently, there have been rumors about renaming India as ‘Bharat’. The government is likely to move a bill for changing India’s official name to ‘Bharat’ during the special session of Parliament, scheduled from September 18-22. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also confirmed that the official G20 dinner invitations from the Indian President have been sent under the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’. The official invite to G20 Heads of State and Ministers for a dinner being hosted by President Murmu on 9th of September, has gone with the heading President of Bharat, based on official reports from CNBC-TV18″
