In a significant counter-terrorism move, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ early Wednesday morning, executing a precision strike on nine terrorist infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The operation was carried out in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack, in which 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national lost their lives.
According to an official press release from the Ministry of Defence, the strikes were focused, measured, and strictly non-escalatory. The government emphasised that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, underlining India’s commitment to avoiding military escalation while delivering a strong message to terror networks.
The targets, believed to be camps and logistical hubs used to plan and direct attacks against India, were hit in a calibrated manner. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the release stated, adding that the operation was conducted with surgical precision.
The timing of Operation Sindoor comes amid rising public outrage over the barbaric Pahalgam attack, which Indian officials have traced back to terrorist groups operating from across the border. The government reiterated its pledge to bring to justice those responsible for the killings, with this strike being described as the first step in a broader commitment to accountability.
A detailed media briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected later today, where defence officials are likely to share more insights on the strategic implications and outcomes of the operation.
This marks a significant moment in India’s counter-terrorism policy, with New Delhi sending a clear signal that cross-border terror will not go unanswered.
