The India Global Forum’s (IGF) annual summit, titled “The New India Inc” will bring together prominent people of tech-driven innovation and those who have entered the unicorn club, as well as Union ministers, politicians, and global business executives. The event will be held on March 7 and 8. This is a first-of-its-kind convergence, especially in light of the incentives outlined in the budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The IGF sessions are intended to establish new goals and solve major global concerns, as well as to provide an unparalleled networking platform for young entrepreneurs, making the event unique. As India celebrates its 75th year of independence, the event will foster enlightening discussions on unicorns, startups, and the growth powered by new-age enterprises.
Startup disruptors and innovators will meet with cabinet members, including finance minister Nirmala Sitaramam and ministers of state Rajeev Chandrashekhar and Meenakshi Lekhi, to discuss and deliberate. Varun Dua (ACKO), Umang Bedi (Dailyhunt & Josh), Nitin Agarwal (GlobalBees), Harsh Jain (Dream11), Yashish Dahiya (Policy Bazaar), Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha), Smita Deorah (LEAD), Vineeta Singh (Velvette Lifestyle), and Harsh Jain are some of the notable unicorn and startup entrepreneurs predicted (Dream11).
As per the Economic Survey 2021-22, as of January 14 this year, India had 83 unicorns valued at a total of $277.77 billion. In 2021, the country gained a record 44 unicorns, overtaking the United Kingdom to become the third-most populous country in terms of unicorns, behind the United States and China. This year, eight Indian firms have joined the coveted unicorn club, indicating that the country may witness significant growth in the number of unicorns in the following months.
In response to the summit, Manoj Ladwa, founder and chairman of the IGF, stated, “Startups and unicorns have been the cornerstone of India’s economic growth story, particularly in the past two years. With the world eyeing ‘New India’ for investments in startups from a range of sectors – fintech, edtech, and healthcare, we are on the cusp of a transformation led by the digital economy and tech-driven solutions. The participation of senior policymakers and cabinet ministers in these conversations in the technology hub of Bengaluru will act as a catalyst of the process.”
Lekhi said, “Showcasing India’s soft power by intertwining diplomacy, business and the cultural economy has become crucial like never before. As we embrace the idea of ‘New India’ while commemorating 75 years of the country’s independence, India Global Forum’s summit in Bengaluru comes at an hour of reckoning for us, the policymakers, to work closely with the shapers and makers of the business world – entrepreneurs, unicorn founders, and innovators to forge a global narrative for India. I very much look forward to engaging with participants as we chalk out plans for a global India.”
