India contributes $500,000 to UN Women’s core budget

On Saturday, India contributed $500,000 to UN Women, the United Nations organisation dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment.

TS Tirumurti, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, took to Twitter to express his country’s “valued partnership of women-led development and gender parity.” He also stated that he is excited to work with UN Women to strengthen their relationship.

“I am delighted to present India’s USD 500,000 contribution to UN Women’s core budget to ED (Executive Director) Sima Bahous @unwomenchief. We reaffirmed our valued collaboration for women-led development and gender equality. I’m looking forward to expanding our collaboration with @UN Women,” Tirumurti used Twitter to express his thoughts.

Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women, thanked India for its contribution and stated that India’s support for UN Women is critical to ensuring the rights of women and girls around the world.
