Early results indicate that the BJP is in the lead with 36 seats in the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections as the 68 assembly seats in the hill state are being counted. The Exit Polls had predicted a close race between the two parties on Monday, but the Congress is now putting the BJP on notice with 32 seats.

The BJP is expected to keep control of the hill state with 33 to 41 assembly seats, while Congress is expected to take second place with 24 to 32 assembly seats, according to exit polls.

On Monday, the majority of exit polls indicated that the BJP will keep control of Himachal Pradesh, but one indicated that the Congress would take office as the state’s new administration.

Every five years, people in the hill state have changed the administration, and this election, the Congress ran its campaign on the premise that the BJP would be overthrown and history would repeat itself. However, the BJP consistently asserted during the election campaign that voters will break with “tradition” this time and give them another chance.

Even while trends are constantly shifting throughout the day, the ultimate results won’t become obvious until the Election Commission releases the final data, which are anticipated to be released by Thursday night.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are engaged in a fight for control of the state, but 99 independent candidates, including 20 BJP and seven Congress rebels, have also entered the race.

The BJP gained 44 seats in the 2017 Assembly election, while the Congress took home 21. The BJP received 48.79% of the vote, while Congress received 41.46%.

The 68 assembly seats in the state were up for election in a single phase on November 8, with the Sirmour district reporting the highest voter turnout of all with 79.91 percent.
