Tragedy struck Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Wednesday as a helicopter crashed near the Bhagirathi River, resulting in the death of five passengers and leaving two others seriously injured, according to ANI. The chopper, carrying six passengers and a captain, went down near Ganganani, a location close to the India-China border in the Garhwal region.

Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the fatalities and stated that the injured individuals have been moved to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Rescue operations were promptly launched with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the district administration reaching the site.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami responded swiftly to the incident, stating, “SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the spot for relief and rescue work. I have instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the accident.”
Visuals from the crash site showed the mangled remains of the chopper, indicating the severity of the impact. The exact cause of the crash is yet to be determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind the fatal accident.
