Hathras Gang-Rape Case: DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal appeals CJI & SC judges to ensure strict punishment to the 4 rapists

She has asked the judges to deliver strict punishment to the 4 rapists and set a definite mechanism in place to ensure no more rapes happen.

Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal has written to Chief Justice of India, Sharad Bobde & other Supreme Court judges and has appealed to take cognizance of Hathras Gang-Rape case and ensure immediate action on erring officials.

She has asked the judges to deliver strict punishment to the 4 rapists and set a definite mechanism in place to ensure no more crimes against women such as rapes occur again.

On September 14, a 19-year old girl was brutally gang-raped by four men in UP’s Hathras and took her last breathe on September 29 after fighting for her life for two weeks. The victim was tortured with her tongue cut and spine broken. UP Police performed her last rites in her village last night.

The opposition has slammed the Uttar Pradesh government criticizing the state of safety for women. The incident has created an outrage amongst people of the country. Multiple protests have occurred demanding justice for her and a death sentence to rapists.
