Gujarat is all set to host the first Tourism Working Group (TWG) meeting at Dhordo Tent City in Rann of Kutch from today, February 7, 2023, as a part of India’s G20 presidency. The meetings from February7-9, 2023, prioritizes 5 spheres: the greening of the tourism sector, Harnessing the power of digitization, Empowering youth with skills, Nurturing tourism MSMEs, Startups, Private Sector & Rethinking strategic management of destinations.
This 3-day meeting will be attended by the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy. This event was preceded by the first G20 event in the state, the ‘Business 20 Inception’ program held in Gandhinagar last month.
The itinerary for the days will commence with the delegates getting an opportunity to visit the White Rann of Kutch, followed by a cultural program showcasing the rich heritage of the region, while an event focusing on ‘Rural Tourism for Community Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation’ will also be held, as per a government report.
The components of the event include a panel discussion on ‘How can tourism policy support tourism’s contribution to rural development’ will also be held, with speakers including experts from the United Nations Environment Programme, Asian Development Bank, International Labour Organization, and representatives from Indonesia, Italy, South Africa, Spain, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina.
The plan for February 8, 2023, is to have the inauguration done by CM Patel and Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala. It will be followed by working sessions on five priority issues, namely green tourism, digitalization, skills, tourism MSMEs, and destination management.
On February 9, 2023, all delegates and participants will have a yoga session at the White Rann of Kutch followed by a visit to Dholavira, the UNESCO world heritage site from the Harappan civilization.
The tourism ministry is all set to be at its best to showcase the exquisite cultural and culinary art of India to the International guests.
