Earlier the President appointed Former Governor of Goa Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of Meghalaya.

Mr. Malik is also the Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir who witnessed the transition of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory. He also added that not a single bullet had been fired in J&K ever since the revocation of Article 370 in August this year.
