“Government is too powerful, it can prove anything” says the Hathras Gangrape victim’s father

Sandip Thakur denying rape in the letter said that the girl had met him in a millet field on September 14 and the mother and a brother saw them, which enraged the family to murder her as “honour killing.”

The sister-in-law of the Hathras Gangrape victim has accused local MP and Dalit BJP leader Rajveer Diler of conspiring and establishing that the Dalit girl was a victim of “honour killing” by her own family.

Recently, a letter by the four accused has been circulated in the media. The letter, handwritten by Sandip Thakur one of the accused, claims that he and the victim were friends and the family had a problem with their friendship over which they used to beat her up brutally. The letter also claimed the Dalit girl’s family had killed her because she was in a relationship with one of the Rajput accused.

According to the sister-in-law of the victim, Rajveer Diler met the four accused in Hathras district jail on October 2, got a letter written by them, and circulated it amongst media and members of the Rajput caste.

The Dalit BJP leader denying all the allegations said, “I was passing by near the jail and received a call from someone who was there.” He didn’t meet anybody lodged in the jail just met the person who called him in a cabin, Diler claimed.

The police has also revealed call details between Sandip and one of the victim’s brothers claiming that 104 calls were made between the period of March and October 2020.

On Thursday, the girl’s father stated that his younger son and an accused have the same name. He cleared that neither his daughter nor anyone else from the family had ever been in touch with the accused. “My son or daughter never spoke to them on the phone. But the government is too powerful and it can prove anything,” he said.

In accordance with the family, the administration is trying to discredit the rape angle by trying to portray a connection and ‘love affair’ between the accused and the victim.

The sister-in-law said: “Adityanath government will never let it be known that Rajputs raped a Dalit sweeper’s daughter. The whole government machinery is now working round the clock to save the accused.”
