On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the inaugural program of the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit (Global Maritime India Summit 2023) through video conference. During this period, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 23,000 crore. “This is an important forum which will bring together stakeholders from around the world to discuss crucial issues and chart the course for the future of maritime trade and development,” said PM Modi before addressing the session in a post on X.

Addressing the program, PM Modi said, “I congratulate all of you. Earlier, when we met in 2021, the whole world was surrounded by the uncertainty of Corona. At that time, no one knew what the world would be like after Corona. But today, a new world order is taking shape in the world.”

PM Modi also said that India will soon join the top 3 economic powers of the world. “India’s economy is continuously strengthening in a world surrounded by economic crisis. The day is not far when India will be one of the top 3 economic powers of the world. With this thinking, we have been working in a planned manner for the last 9 years to strengthen this sector.”

“Under the leadership of PM Modi everyone knows how the country has moved forward on the road to development. This is going to be a three-day programme starting today. The programme will be inaugurated by PM Modi. Prominent personalities in the maritime industry from the country and abroad will be participating in the programme. India is going to be a leading maritime nation in the coming days,” said Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal. (As quoted by ANI)

The Global Maritime Summit is organised for providing a platform to invite investment in country’s maritime sector.
