Former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, has been sent to judicial custody until September 23 by a special CBI court. Ghosh was arrested on September 2 on charges of financial irregularities. Along with Ghosh, his security personnel Afsar Ali and two contractors, Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra, have also been placed in judicial custody.
The court had earlier granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) eight days of custody for Ghosh. The CBI has informed the court that they may seek further custody if needed to advance their investigation.
Ghosh’s arrest occurred amid ongoing protests related to a separate incident involving the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College. His case of financial irregularities has been developing alongside this larger unrest, drawing significant public attention.
The accusations against Ghosh and his associates are part of a broader inquiry into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure at the medical college. The investigation continues, and the authorities are closely monitoring the developments in the case. Further updates on the case are expected in the coming days.
