Delhi Police’s Special Investigation Team (STF) reported on August 2 that Tahir Hussain has confessed to his involvement in the riots in northeast Delhi that occurred against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in February. Police informed that during the investigation the now suspended AAP delegate disclosed.
AAP councillor stated that he decided to use his political influence and resources to teach Hindus a note. He told investigators he had been the organizer behind the Delhi protests in the northeast.
Steps being taken by Tahir to oppose CAA
Tahir acquired assistance from Khalid Saifi, former JNU student Umar Khalid, Ishrat Jahan and Danish leader of the Popular Front of India (PFI), according to police investigators.
According to Tahir, Khalid Saifi was in charge of taking citizens to the level where they came out and unleashed abuse against the Hindu group.
The group of three then made conspiracies to do something significant in the capital city to oblige the Central Government to revoke its CAA verdict.
He disclosed that Khalid Saifi had arranged his meeting with former JNU student Umar Khalid at the PFI office in Shaheen Bagh in Delhi on January 8, 2020. Khalid has allegedly told him mostly during discussion that he is willing to jeopardize his life for his friends.
Tahir disclosed that he began collecting abandoned bottles of alcohol and cold beverages from the garbage, stones from the building sites, and petrol, and gathering it on the roof of his Chand Bagh house.
As a gas explosive, they used gasoline fuelled vehicles to fill empty cars for riots, Tahir declared.
He had kept vast amounts of gasoline, tiles, blocks, gas, diesel, etc. on the roof of his home. He confirmed that he had already obtained his registered weapon, which had been stored with the authorities, for use during protests.
Tahir has taken over the surveillance systems to insure that no information is obtained by the authorities. He purposely kept calling the Delhi Police on the day of the protests, in order to prevent any doubt about his involvement.
Delhi Police questioned Umar Khalid on 1 August regarding his speeches before the unrest in northeastern Delhi and even about his talks in Shaheen Bagh with Tahir and Saifi in advance.
