Following the launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ by the Indian Armed Forces and subsequent shifts in regional airspace dynamics, IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory warning passengers of potential disruptions in northern India.

In a social media update, IndiGo stated that due to “changing airspace conditions in the region,” flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala may be affected. The airline has urged all passengers traveling to or from these cities to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

This advisory comes hours after India announced precision strikes on nine terrorist sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir under Operation Sindoor. While the Ministry of Defence has maintained that the military actions were non-escalatory, the impact on civil aviation appears to be an immediate logistical consequence of the shifting security environment.

Aviation sources indicate that temporary airspace closures or re-routing directives could be in place as a precautionary measure, contributing to flight delays and potential cancellations. There has been no official airspace closure notice yet, but operational adjustments are being made in real time based on instructions from authorities.

Passengers have been advised to remain in touch with airlines for updates and allow extra time for travel-related uncertainties. More detailed advisories from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and other carriers are expected if the situation evolves further.

This is a developing story.
