This discussion follows India’s major counter-terror offensive — Operation Sindoor — launched on May 7. Under the operation, Indian forces executed precision strikes on nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, including one Nepali national.
India has maintained that the strikes were limited, targeted, and non-escalatory. In the hours following the operation, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also briefed his counterparts in the United States, UK, France, UAE, Russia, and Japan to clarify India’s position and preparedness.
Jaishankar’s meeting with the Saudi minister is part of New Delhi’s broader diplomatic outreach aimed at consolidating global support against cross-border terrorism and de-escalating misinformation campaigns.
More high-level meetings are expected in the coming days as India seeks to maintain regional stability while defending its national security interests.
