Tensions escalated once again late Monday night as residents in Jammu & Kashmir’s Samba district reported red streaks in the sky followed by loud explosions, as per reports of ANI – India’s air defence systems intercepting suspected Pakistani drones. The incident unfolded amid an ongoing emergency blackout in both Samba and Amritsar, enforced by local authorities as a precautionary measure.

The Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar earlier issued a public alert at 8:45 PM, stating,

“You will hear a siren. We are on alert and initiating the blackout… Don’t panic at all. This is by way of abundant caution.”

Residents in Samba, which lies along the international border, also received similar blackout directives as air defence operations intensified in the area. Eyewitnesses confirmed hearing multiple aerial blasts, believed to be the successful interception of enemy UAVs by India’s indigenous air defence systems.

This comes hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a national address, asserted India’s military superiority, stating:

Buri tarah pitne ke baad Pakistan sena ne DGMO ko sampark kiya.”
“Pakistan instead of fighting terrorism, dared to attack us. They paid a heavy price.”

He further praised the armed forces for neutralizing incoming drones and missiles mid-air, emphasizing India’s readiness and self-reliance in defending its borders.

Authorities are on high alert, and further updates from the armed forces and DGMO are expected soon.
