Explosion in Gujarat’s chemical plant leaves one dead, two injured

”We have to inform you that an incident took place in the P2 plant at our Dahej Chemical Complex in Gujarat. This resulted in the unfortunate fatality of one person and two others were injured,” the company apprised in an exchange filing.

Though the mishap was followed by a fire, it was timely controlled by the authorities, said Bharuch District Superintendent of Police, Rajendrasinh Chudasama.

The blast happened in a chemical tank wherein the person working close to the tank was killed on the spot while the other two surrounding workers faced burn injuries and were shifted to the hospital with immediate care. Later, another police official reported that the two injured were migrated to a private hospital in Vadodara for further treatment.

The company assured that this incident did not lay any impact or jolted on other plants at the site. Moreover, SRF is in the process to diagnose the primary cause that led to this massive explosion and is trying to bounce back by recovering the damaged equipment through insurance.
