In an interesting twist in the Murugha mutt sexual abuse case, former administrator of the mutt, SK Basavarajan, surrendered before the Chitradurga rural police here on Thursday.

The police said Basavarajan was absconding after the police lodged a complaint in connection with an audio clip which contains the conversation of sexually abused victims being tutored against the imprisoned seer.

The prime accused, Basavarajendra, in the audio clip case had revealed Basavarajan’s name during an interrogation held by the police.

Basavarajendra is accused of collusion with vested interest to defame the Murugha seer for making easy money.

Basavarajan is also alleged to have planned the stealing of 40-odd photos featuring the seer from Murugha mutt premises.

A police complaint was lodged in this regard on October 6.

Basavarajan, along with NGO Odanadi, was behind in booking POCSO case against the imprisoned seer by giving shelter to the victims in the sexually abused case.

The in-charge seer of Murugha Mutt Basavaprabhu Swamiji filed a complaint against Basavarajendra, a resident of Junjanawadi village in Belagavi district, the mother of the complainant in second Pocso case against seer and members of Odanadi NGO from Mysuru, police said this morning.

However, Odanadi Director Stanley cried foul by saying that the audio clip is an attempt to derail the investigation of the main scandal.

The complaint by the in-charge seer stated that the accused have hatched a conspiracy against the imprisoned seer to defame him to make money.

The 14-minute audio clip allegedly contains the victims being tutored to lodge a case against the accused seer.

The police have officially stated that the charges against Murugha seer have been proved in the first POCSO case.
