Multiple assets of NCP Minister, Nawab Malik, have been attached by ED in connection with the money laundering case registered against Dawood Ibrahim and his close aides. Malik is booked under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002. Eight properties belonging to the leader have been attached by the ED. Goawala Compound in Kurla (West), a commercial unit at Kurla West in Mumbai, three flats at Kurla West, and two residential flats at Bandra West in Mumbai are the assets that ED has attached.
Nawab Malik had sought an immediate release from the prison to which the hearing will be heard in the Supreme court on Wednesday, said Chief Justice NV Ramana. Earlier, the Bombay High court had rejected the plea by the minister in February. Presently, the dates have not been confirmed by the SC. “This is Nawab Malik’s matter where ED is taking proceedings. The act came into place in 2005, the transaction is prior to 2000. A transaction from 22 years ago is sought to proceed,” Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal was reported as saying who is appearing for Malik. The Chief Justice in his reply to Kapil Sibal said, “Yes, we will list it.”
